Coast Guard implements new i911 application to assist mariners

The Coast Guard's 14th District has followed other districts in implementing the groundbreaking i911 technology to assist mariners in distress on the waters throughout the Pacific. The Coast Guard ran a pilot program from May to November 2019 in the Northeast, and the new application was instrumental in resolving several search and rescue cases in the New England region. The Coast Guard accepted its 16th missionized HC-130J Super Hercules long range surveillance aircraft Feb. 19, 2024, from L3Harris in Waco, Texas. CGNR 2016 was delivered to Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

The Coast Guard accepted delivery of its 17th C-130J long range surveillance aircraft Aug. 10, 2023, from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta, Georgia. The aircraft will operate out of the Aviation Logistics Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, until it undergoes missionization at L3Harris in Waco, Texas.

The Coast Guard accepted its 16th C-130J long range surveillance aircraft Nov. 10, 2022, from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Marietta, Georgia. The aircraft will next undergo missionization which encompasses the installation of the Minotaur Mission System Suite and APY-11 multimode radar at L3Harris in Waco, Texas.
