About the Course
The purpose of the course is to provide current/prospective Commanding Officers (CO) and Officers-in-Charge (OIC) with leadership tools to carry out their role as a unit leader within the organization. This course will prepare CO and OIC personnel to safely and effectively conduct operations at their assigned units by fostering a positive workforce environment. The course will focus on three themes related to proficiency in leadership: Command & Leadership, Command Climate, and Mission Support.
Eligibility
In the paygrade of E-6 and above assigned, or in receipt of, Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders as a CO or OIC to any ashore unit with the exception of boat forces units. This course is one of many approved command leadership courses. Priority is given to those personnel who are not eligible to attend a job-specific command preparatory course.
Application Procedures
Coordinate with your Training Officer or ESO to submit an Electronic Training Request (ETR) using Direct Access.

CAP-T is a completely virtual course via online sessions and self-study blocks. Students will utilize the CAP-T homepage on MILSUITE where they can access course content (slides, documents, references etc.) and participate in discussion boards/dialogs regarding the units of instruction. Given geographic diversity of students, the virtual/online sessions will take place between 1130-1300 and 1330-1500 (Eastern) each day. The scheduling and delivery specifics will be provided to students before the course convenes.
