2021 Annual review of critical housing areas
This ALCGPSC announces the Military Housing Areas (MHA) and zip codes meeting the eligibility criteria for designation as a CHA. This ALCGPSC applies to all areas in the continental United States where dependents are authorized to accompany service members.

TRICARE Select Group A Retiree Enrollment Fee Payments Due Now
The Coast Guard is now able to accept TRICARE Select fees by allotment directly from military retired pay. However, this allotment must be completed by contacting your TRICARE contractor.
Reserve Policy Distribution
This message promulgates a new manual (Reserve Duty Status and Participation Manual, COMDTINST M1001.2), a new instruction (Electronic Based Distributed Learning Instruction, COMDTINST 1500.7) and a new edition of the Reserve Policy Manual, COMDTINST M001.28D.

Changes to Rated Sea Time for Advancement to DC, EM, ET, and MK Ratings
ALCOAST ACN 012/21 announces updates to Enlistments, Evaluations, and Advancements, COMDTINST M1000.2 (series) regarding rated sea time for advancement in DC, EM, ET, and MK ratings. The new requirements are: a. E-6 – DC, EM, ET, MK – 12 months in designated rating in any paygrade. b. E-7 – DC, EM, ET, MK – 36 months in designated rating in any paygrade. The new sea duty requirements will go into effect for the May 2023 SWE.

RADM Hathaway and MCPO Lloyd Pierce release the CG National Retiree Council’s Annual Report
This open letter to Coast Guard retirees was written by RADM (ret.) Jeff Hathaway & MCPO (ret.) Lloyd Pierce, co-chairs of the Coast Guard National Retiree Council. The CGNRC was chartered in 1982. Its primary mission is to sustain open and positive lines of communication between the Commandant and the entire Coast Guard military retiree community through the Commandant’s executive agent, the Director of Military Personnel (CG-13).
Understanding Repayment of the Payroll Tax Deferment
As announced in announced in ALCOAST 329/20, the Government deferred Social Security tax collection from September through the end of 2020. Recent legislation changed the repayment period. Now, the 2020 deferred Social Security taxes will be collected in 24 installments (previously 8 installments) from your mid-month and end-of-month pay between January 15 and December 30 (previously April 30), 2021.To calculate the impact on your military pay, please see the Payroll Tax Deferral Guide.
