CDR Javier Delgado
Commander Javier A. Delgado is from Ponce, Puerto Rico. After earning a Bachelor Degree of Science in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, he attended Coast Guard Direct Commission Training at Yorktown, Virginia in 1993. Following the training, he was assigned to the CG Electronic Engineering Center in Wildwood, New Jersey where he was a project officer for the Vessel Traffic System (VTS) responsible for upgrading the VTS system at the port of Houston Galveston and Puget Sound. In 1996-1999 he was assigned to CG Group Miami, Florida where he served as the Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement Officer responsible for executing and prosecuting all the cases affecting the Group. From 1999-2000 CDR Delgado was assigned as Operations Officer for CG Group Mayport, Florida where he was responsible for executing all the Law Enforcement and Search and Rescue operations at the Group.
After resigning his commission in the Coast Guard, CDR Javier Delgado went to work for General Dynamics in Saudi Arabia as Principal Electronics/Electrical Engineer responsible for addressing all the Electronics and Electrical Systems onboard the Royal Naval Forces ships assigning to the Gulf Area.
In 2003 Commander Delgado decided to depart Saudi Arabia and returned to the CG as a reserve officer assigned to Sector Miami, Florida as Command Center Controller executing Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement and Pollution cases affecting the Sector. From 2005-2009 he was assigned to the Telecommunications Information System Command as a Project Officer responsible for developing and building the Coast Guard Contingency Communication Assets. From 2009-2012, he was assigned to Coast Guard CG-9335 Command Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Acquisition Project Officer detach duty Moorestown, New Jersey, where he oversaw the program management and engineering support for a major C4ISR baseline development for the Maritime Patrol Aircraft & National Security Cutter. From 2012 to 2015, CDR Delgado was assigned to Communications Area Master Station Pacific, Point Reyes, California as the Executive Officer in which he was responsible for the direct command, control and distress communications supporting CG LE, SAR and HLS. From 2015 to 2018, he has the duties of Sector North Carolina Logistics Department Head as well as Sector Field Office Fort Macon Supervisor and CO of Military Personnel. From 2018 to 2019, CDR Delgado has the Duties of Coast Guard Liaison Officer in Havana, Cuba.
Currently, CDR Delgado has the duties of Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Base San Juan, Puerto Rico.
CDR Delgado also holds a Master of Science Management from Florida Institute of Technology. His awards include two Meritorious Service Medal, three CG Commendation Medals, Four CG Achievement Medals, and numerous unit, team, and service awards.
