New Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) rates go into effect 01 JAN 2021.

New CY2021 Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) rates go into effect 01 JAN 2021.

• Officers: $266.18

• Enlisted: $386.50

Monthly ENL-BAS rates increases $13.79 to $386.50; monthly OFF-BAS increases $9.50 to $266.50.

BAS is a non-taxable allowance intended to offset the cost of subsistence for active duty members, including reservists on active duty for training (but not reservists on inactive duty for training (IDT - drills) – enlisted reservists on IDT with pay may receive a separate IDT subsistence allowance).

ENL-BAS is not payable to enlisted members undergoing basic military training (boot camp), including non-prior service officer candidates at OCS – these trainees are subsisted without charge at CG training installation Dining Facilities.  BAS becomes payable when initial military trainees complete their basic training/OCS.
