The CGMA Campaign gets under way in April again this year. The campaign
theme, "Help is on the Horizon," emphasizes that CGMA is close by and ever
ready to assist with the financial needs of our Coast Guard family. CGMA has
a long and proud history of service, born of the longstanding Coast Guard
tradition of looking after our own.
The campaign itself serves two important functions. First, contributions
raised ensure that CGMA remains fiscally sound. As a donor supported
non-profit, CGMA receives no federal funds and it does not solicit funds
outside the Coast Guard community. The annual campaign is crucial to
ensuring that CGMA remains a strong, reliable resource, capable of meeting
needs as they arise.
Second, the campaign affords a frequent reminder to the entire Coast Guard
community that CGMA is there to offer direct emergency financial help as
well as a wide range of valuable support programs like adoption assistance,
respite care for special needs families, education assistance, and many
other support services.
To this end, it is important that our Campaign Coordinators and key workers
achieve 100% contact with all active duty members and civilian employees.
Also, while CGMA does address the Reserve community through direct mailings,
I would encourage commands to engage senior Reserve officers and enlisted
personnel to assist in reaching out to those in their charge as well.
Your active support of the campaign effort is greatly appreciated.
