Reserve Inactive Duty for Training Direct Access Approval Process Change


The reserve supervisor is no longer required to send an email notification to the SPO with the batch number stating that members have completed a drill. It was determined that the email being sent to the SPO provided no real value, was a duplication of effort and in many instances slowed down the approval process.

When the reserve supervisor marks a members drill complete they are certifying that they have reviewed the members drill data for accuracy and that it is correct (ie. meal rates, single drill 4 hours minimum and multiple drill 8 hours minimum).  If the members drill data is not correct, the supervisor should seek corrections prior to marking the drill complete and forwarding to the SPO for payments.

The SPO is required within three working days of the drill batch posting to the SPO worklist, to approve for payment.

The Personnel and Pay Procedures Manual (Ch. 10 Sec B. Steps 7 and 8 of the IDT drill process ), PPCINST M1000.2(series) and the IDT user guides (listed below) have been updated to reflect this change.
