Acquisition Update: Coast Guard Awards C-27J Spare Parts Contract

The Coast Guard awarded a contract worth approximately $19 million to Leonardo SpA of Rome for C-27J Spartan medium range surveillance aircraft spare parts today.

The contract covers spares for use in repairing the airframes and avionics and other components that usually cost less to repair than replace. They will support operation and maintenance of the Spartans at Air Station Sacramento, California, and the HC-27J Asset Project Office in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Air Station Sacramento is the first unit to receive C-27Js and will become fully operational when it receives its sixth aircraft later this fiscal year.

Delivery of the items is expected to take place over the next few months.
