A. MILITARY SEPARATIONS, COMDTINST 1000.4(series)
1. On 01 April 2025, all officers on the Active-Duty Promotion List requesting to separate in
accordance with REF A shall now use the automated separation request system located at OPM-1
Separations Section. Requests submitted in any other format will not be accepted.
2. This update will streamline the separation request process and improve routing expediency. To
avoid routing delays, ensure members upload all accompanying endorsements and supporting
documentation to the automated separation request system.
3. Members are reminded that although this new automated system will reduce processing time,
members should plan for 30-60 days to process standard requests. Unique requests, or those that
require waivers, will often exceed this expected timeline.
