Coast Guard Awards Automatic Flight Control System Component Contract

The Coast Guard awarded a $3.7 million contract to Rockwell Collins Inc. for production of 140 automatic flight control system (AFCS) control panels for its MH-65E short range recovery helicopters Dec. 20, 2016. These panels are one step of a planned initiative for improving the reliability of the AFCS. Delivery of the AFCS control panels is planned to begin in July, with about three panels delivered per month. The vendor will store the control panels after delivery and ship them to the Aviation Logistics Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, as needed for installation as part of the upgrade to the MH-65E configuration.
