Originally from Williamsburg, Virginia, Captain Jordan received his commission as an Ensign from the United States Coast Guard Academy in May, 1992. His first duty station was as Deck Watch Officer in USCGC CONIFER (WLB 301), a 180 foot long sea-going buoy tender based in San Pedro, California. In June 1994, he took command of USCGC POINT BRIDGE (WPB 82338), an 82 foot long coastal patrol boat based in Marina Del Rey, California. From May 1996 until May 1997, he served as the Aide to the Pacific Area Commander, located at Coast Guard Island in Alameda, California. In June 1997, he was re-assigned as Executive Officer in USCGC BUTTONWOOD (WLB 306), a 180 foot long sea-going buoy tender based in San Francisco, California.

From June 1999 to March 2001, he completed a Duty Under Instruction Program at the Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the Masters in Business Administration (MBA) program and at the Stockholm School of Economics in Stockholm, Sweden. After receiving his MBA in March, 2001, he was re-assigned to the Resource Directorate (CG-8) at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC.

In June 2004, he took command of USCGC CYPRESS (WLB 210), a 225 foot long sea going buoy tender based in Mobile, Alabama. In 2004 and 2005, CYPRESS participated in the evacuation from and response to numerous major hurricanes- including rescue operations after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In July 2007, he was re-assigned to Kodiak, Alaska where he served as Comptroller/ Executive Officer of Integrated Support Command/Base Kodiak.

In 2010, he took command of USCGC RESOLUTE (WMEC 620), a 210 foot long Medium Endurance Cutter based in St. Petersburg, Florida. During his time in RESOLUTE, he has served as Task Unit Commander for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill response as well as carried out narcotics and migrant interdictions in the Caribbean.

In 2012, he served as the Chief of Professional Maritime Studies Department at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where he oversaw and took part in the instruction of the cadet corps in Nautical Science as well as summer training in ship-handling and collision avoidance. In 2013, he reported to Coast Guard Headquarters as Chief of Financial Policy/Reporting, Property and Audit Coordination/Remediation (CG-84).

His military awards include two Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medals- both with operational distinguishing device, four Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals and one Commandant's Letter of Commendation Ribbon Bar.

Captain Jordan enjoys coaching youth sports, fishing, boating and traveling. He is a licensed 100 Ton Vessel Master.
