Base Los Angeles / Long Beach

1001 South Seaside Ave  San Pedro, CA 90731

Mr. Justin Tam
Local Housing Officer
(310) 521-6143

On Behalf of Base Los Angeles/Long Beach and the Local Housing Office, welcome to the San Pedro area!  As a reminder, Coast Guard Housing is now mandatory for all orders issued on or after October 1, 2013.

Members with Dependents:

 1.  Since Coast Guard Owned Housing is extremely limited in the area; anyone with dependents who wish to collect BAH will be released onto the economy.  Please submit the following documentation via email to the Los Angeles/Long Beach Local Housing Office at justin.r.tam@uscg.mil or call (310) 521-6143.

  • A DD1746 “Application for Assignment to Housing”.
  • A copy of your PCS Orders.
  • A CG-4170A “Dependency/BAH Dependency Worksheet”.

Once the Local Housing Office receives all necessary paperwork; you will be emailed a DD1747 acknowledging your official release from Mandatory Government Housing.  Please provide this DD1747 to your outgoing/incoming Admin/SPO Offices so you can collect DLA and have you’re BAH started when you officially report to your new duty station.

2.  There is also Privatized Housing in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area and in the Oxnard/Ventura area.  Privatized housing looks more like community rental housing than on-base Military Family Housing.  These are not government owned homes; a property owner controls the property, providing leasing, management and maintenance services while the Coast Guard Local Housing Office can assist you with housing referral, community information, and complaint mediation if necessary.  You will sign an official lease and will pay your rent via an allotment; the amount of rent will not exceed the BAH rate for the specific area and in some cases the rent may be less than your BAH which means you can pocket the remaining amount.  There are two Privatized Housing facilities that Coast Guard members can use in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area:

    A.  Tierra Vista Military Housing (Los Angeles Air Force Base) – located at Fort McArthur in San Pedro, CA.  Please click on their link to learn more about their housing, waiting lists, and to apply on line http://la.tierra-vista.com/ or call (888) 658-4630 and they will send you the appropriate paperwork for their housing site.  Please remember that you must be officially released from Coast Guard Housing and receive a DD1747 from the Base Los Angeles/Long Beach Local Housing Office before applying for Tierra Vista Military Housing.

    B.  Lincoln Military Housing – located in Seal Beach, CA.  Please click on their link to learn more about their housing, waiting lists, and to apply on line http://lincolnmilitary.com/installations/seal-beach-nws/ or call (562) 596-9841 and they will send you the appropriate paperwork for their housing site.  Please remember that you must be officially released from Coast Guard Housing and receive a DD1747 from the Base Los Angeles/Long Beach Local Housing Office before applying for Lincoln Military Housing.

  C.  Lincoln Military Housing – located in (Oxnard/Ventura) Port Hueneme or Point Mugu, CA.  Please click on their link to learn more about their housing, waiting lists, and to apply on line http://lincolnmilitary.com/installations/ventura-nbvc/.  Please remember that you must be officially released from Coast Guard Housing and receive a DD1747 from the Base Los Angeles/Long Beach Local Housing Office before applying for Lincoln Military Housing.  Their Information:

Please ensure you complete this requirement, as failure to do so may adversely affect your BAH entitlement.   Please submit the following documentation via email to the Los Angeles/Long Beach Local Housing Office at justin.r.tam@uscg.mil

Please ensure you complete this requirement, as failure to do so may adversely affect your BAH entitlement.   Please submit the following documentation via email to the Los Angeles/Long Beach Local Housing Office at justin.r.tam@uscg.mil.
