Pharmacy

Location: Coast Guard Building, Clinic

Base New Orleans does not have a fully functioning pharmacy. Over the counter medications can be obtained. If a member is prescribed medication, the PCN will give a written perscription to be filled at a retail pharmacy (CVS, Rite Aid, etc.).

Starting December 1, 2016, CVS and Target pharmacies will no longer be part of the Tricare retail pharmacy network. Walgreens/Kroger will return to the network on December 1, 2016.

In addition to providing prescription medications the pharmacy runs an "Over the Counter Program." This program allows members the option of obtaining medications to alleviate basic medical symptoms or conditions without scheduling an appointment. Members are authorized two medications per week, per household. Active duty members that are pregnant will need to check with their OB doctor prior to using the OTC program. In addition those members on flight status must have a flight surgeon's approval to use certain medications on the OTC program.
