About MWR Facility in Marathon:

There are 4 cottages, 2 recreational boats, 4 RV pads, and a basketball court situated on Vaca Key in the heart of the Florida Keys. The cottages and RV Pads are located at USCG Station Marathon, in Marathon, Florida.

The marathon cottages are open year round and have topography similar to that of islands in the eastern Caribbean. There are beaches and excellent fishing on both the Gulf and the Atlantic sides of the Key. The marathon cottages are 111 miles southwest of Miami, 48 miles northeast of Key West, Florida. Near mile marker 48 (mile markers are small green signs on right side of highway). 

Authorized MWR patrons can make reservations for RV pads and Cottages in Marathon online.

Online reservations are confirmed electronically by the Lodge Hosts in Marathon and requests are processed Tuesday through Friday.  For example, if you submit your online reservation request on Friday Night, you should expect to receive a confirmation on the following Tuesday.

Military ID/Proof of eligibility are required at check-in.

2 Outboard boats, bicycles, fishing gear, picnic tables, grills.

Cottage Information     
Marathon has 4 one-bedroom cottages. Each can sleep 5 persons max: 1 double bed, 2 single sofa beds, and 1 rollaway bed. Cottages are completely furnished including air conditioning, cable TV, refrigerator, electric range, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, dishes, cooking utensils, stainless steel service, pots, pans, linen, blankets, and towels. Extra towels are recommended.
Pets are not allowed; smoking is prohibited.

4 RV pads, each with a concrete patio, picnic table, grill and standard hook ups for electric 
(20, 30 & 50 amps), water and sewer.
No camping. RV's must be self-contained.

Check-In          
Please call on your scheduled day of arrival at 0900 am for instructions when arriving at the station. Arrival check-in is between 1400 and 1800 with the Cottage Caretaker at

Authorized MWR patrons can make reservations for RV pads and Cottages online.
Enter your desired arrival date below and number of guests to check availability and process your reservation.  Reservations are confirmed via email Tuesday through Thursday.

No check-in or check-outs are permitted on Federal Holidays, reservation requests will be cancelled if requested on these days. 

Each cottage and RV pad are allowed 1 parking space. There are no exceptions.  No trailers or boats are allowed.

Full payment is required at time of reservation. 30 day advance notice is required to receive a refund on a cancelled reservation. If eligible for a refund, a 5% processing fee will be assessed.

Payment will be forfeited and no refund will be issued for cancellations made 29 days or less prior to reservation check-in date.

Due to filters on .mil email accounts, persons using those email addresses will likely not receive your confirmation notice.  Please use a personal email or call the Marathon Cottages (305) 743-3549, (786) 367-5391, (305) 321-1493) for your confirmation.  Reservations are processed Tuesday through Friday.

By agreeing to the terms presented when creating a reservation request online, all applicants affirm they are eligible patrons, have read the Privacy Act Statement and self-certify to the terms in the posted Statement of Understanding.

Principal purpose for which information is intended to be used:  To provide the U. S. Coast Guard with sufficient information to evaluate the request for use of the recreation facilities under the auspices of Coast Guard Base Miami Beach.

The routine use that may be made of the information:  To provide a record of all applications for use of the Marathon recreation facilities controlled by Coast Guard Base Miami Beach.
