RADM Hathaway and MCPO Lloyd Pierce release the CG National Retiree Council’s Annual Report
This open letter to Coast Guard retirees was written by RADM (ret.) Jeff Hathaway & MCPO (ret.) Lloyd Pierce, co-chairs of the Coast Guard National Retiree Council. The CGNRC was chartered in 1982. Its primary mission is to sustain open and positive lines of communication between the Commandant and the entire Coast Guard military retiree community through the Commandant’s executive agent, the Director of Military Personnel (CG-13).

Separating or Retiring? Take Your Mandatory Transition Training
All members are required to take pre-separation counseling on the Learning Management System (LMS) or a transition seminar. Members are authorized to begin their transition one year out from separation or two years out from retiring. 2021 Adjustments to Retired/Retainer Pay, Survivor Annuities and Premiums
The following Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs) are effective December 1, 2020, based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) through the third quarter calendar year 2020. The term "retired pay" includes retainer pay and the term "members" includes former members.

Coast Guard JROTC Instructor Position openings for retired CG members in the 2021-2022 academic year

The Coast Guard is pleased to announce the establishment of two new CG JROTC units: one at Lucy Beckham High School (LBHS) in Mt. Pleasant, SC, and one at Pinellas Park High School (PPHS) in Largo, FL, in the 2021-2022 academic year. We are encouraging the highest caliber influential leaders who meet the program qualifications and have a passion for developing service-minded citizens to pursue the opportunity of being a CG JROTC instructor at one of these units. Interested individuals should begin right away by applying for Navy JROTC instructor certification as key deadlines are fast approaching. After receiving certification, individuals will apply directly with the appropriate school districts in the spring of 21.

Check Out: New Monthly Premiums for TRICARE Young Adult Plans in 2021
Beginning on Jan. 1, 2021, premiums for TRICARE Young Adult (TYA) coverage will increase. TYA Select will increase by 12.7% and TYA Prime by 22%. These changes reflect the increase in TYA program costs for calendar year 2021. TYA is a premium-based plan available for purchase by qualified dependent children under the age of 26.
Veterans Affairs (VA) Separation Health Assessments
Members separating from active duty must complete a Separation History and Physical Examination (SHPE) and a mental health assessment (MHA) prior to separation. Servicemembers who file a disability claim with the VA prior to separation, via the Veterans Affairs (VA) Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) program, will receive a VA provided Separation Health Assessment (SHA). ALCOAST Commandant Notice 127/20 authorizes the use of the VA separation Health Assessment to meet the requirements for a military SHPE and MHA.

Plan Now: TRICARE Select Enrollment Fees for Group A Retirees Coming January 2021
Did you hear the news about TRICARE Select enrollment fees? TRICARE Select Group A retirees must begin paying enrollment fees to maintain health coverage starting on Jan. 1, 2021. TRICARE Select is the name of the plan that replaced the former TRICARE Standard and TRICARE Extra programs in 2018.
