The Coast Guard on April 28, 2017, awarded a contract to support its C-27J Spartan medium range surveillance aircraft to Leonardo SpA of Rome. The current value of the award is $4.6 million, which covers the first year of services. The contract has a potential total value of $16.1 million if all three option years are exercised.
The contract provides technical and logistics support that will help improve the C-27Js’ availability for operations. Under the contract, the HC-27J Asset Project Office in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and Air Station Sacramento, California, will receive access to a field service representative and factory service representative who will provide on-site technical expertise.
