The Coast Guard on July 17 issued a request for information (RFI) seeking information on the current capabilities of maritime unmanned aircraft systems (MUAS), sensor technology, payload capabilities, detect and avoid or airspace self-clearing capabilities, and system performance characteristics for cutter-based and land-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support.

This effort is part of a continuous market research strategy to ensure the service has the latest information on existing and proposed MUAS solutions in the commercial marketplace. It is seeking information on UAS from Group 2 (20-55 pounds) through Group 5 (greater than 1,320 pounds).

The RFI is available here. Responses are due no later than 1 p.m. EDT on Aug. 18, 2025.
