The Coast Guard on Aug. 13 issued a request for information (RFI) seeking industry feedback on potential implementation strategies and approaches in support of its effort to modernize its human resources information technology (HRIT) portfolio and capabilities. Through this market research effort, the Coast Guard also hopes to identify the current state of the industry, the resources required to deliver capabilities, and industry best practices.

Without the means to effectively and efficiently grow and manage its military, civilian and auxiliary workforces, the Coast Guard’s ability to meet critical mission demands and foster maritime safety, security and stability is reduced. The data gathered through this RFI will provide the Coast Guard with critical insight into establishing a path to achieving the HRIT goals outlined in Force Design 2028, the Coast Guard’s comprehensive blueprint for organizational transformation.

The RFI, which includes additional details and instructions on how to submit a response, is available here. Responses are due no later than 9 a.m. ET on Sept. 12, 2025.

The Coast Guard is planning additional opportunities, including industry days, to inform this critical management modernization effort.
