CG-1K31 ensures that safety and occupational health policies, procedures, standards and programs are aligned with the operational needs of the Coast Guard. CG-1K31 programs focus on the safety and effectiveness of our operational and support communities (e.g., Afloat, Aviation, Shore) and while other programs focus on the occupational health, industrial hygiene, and environmental health of our workforce to ensure that safety and occupational health issues are integrated into all decision making processes.

CG-1K31 Program Areas

Several safety programs are managed primarily by CG-1K31 while others are jointly managed with the Safety Assurance and Risk Reduction Division (CG-1K32). All CG-1K3 safety program managers coordinate unified safety management systems and activities with the HSWL Service Center and operational fleet counterparts to enhance personnel safety and maximize mission effectiveness. CG-1K31 also provides technical advice following hazard or mishap notifications and supports time-critical mishap analyses and reporting activities.
