PPMs
The Coast Guard is addressing a mistake related to Personally-Procured Moves (PPMs) during the 2025 PCS transfer season. A subset of members may not have had taxes withheld from their incentive pay, which needs to be paid back to the IRS. The Financial Service Center (FSC) is calculating each member's tax liability. On their behalf, PPC is sending a tailored notification to affected members informing them of the situation.
Fortunately, the "fix" is automatic and requires no action on the members' part beyond filing their taxes as they normally would. From the W-2, the IRS will recognize taxes were not withheld on incentive pay and will automatically deduct what should have been withheld.
The Coast Guard regrets the inconvenience this may have caused and appreciates our member's patience and grace while correcting the situation. PPC has reinforced Authorizing Official training on how to prevent this mistake from occurring in mLINQS and FSC has locked down the process, so PPM claims are cleared through them prior to payment. Additionally, CGMA is available to assist members with the financial resources available to them, including interest-free loans. All PPM claims are now routed to FSC for approval.
RETIRED PAY
PPC is addressing a processing delay due to systematic issues and a shortage of personnel. This is causing a delay in response efforts for VA offsets, AEWs, CRDP, and CRSC disability. You remain our primary concern. We want to assure you that we are fully committed to resolving these issues promptly and handling your cases with utmost care and accuracy.
