Coastal Sentinel

One network. Total awareness. Faster decisions.

As part of the Coast Guard’s command, control, communications, computers, cyber/combat systems and Intelligence (C5I) portfolio, Coastal Sentinel is a massive upgrade to the Coast Guard’s command and control architecture, designed to optimize daily operations and reduce digital friction. Utilizing a “system of systems” approach, it links existing shore, air, surface and space sensors into a single, unified network. For personnel on the front line, this means background artificial intelligence automates data processing and integrates multi-agency feeds into a shared, real-time map. It cuts out the clutter, spots threats instantly and gives Coast Guard men and women the exact information they need to make fast, decisive calls when lives and national security are on the line.

Coastal Sentinel will begin Phase 1 development in fiscal year 2027 at Sector San Diego. After this initial phase, the service plans to implement the capability across multiple Coast Guard districts.

Coastal Sentinel will be managed as a portfolio of minor acquisition programs related to coastal sensors, coastal communications, computing, data processing and networking capabilities. This will prevent proprietary disadvantages, enable more agile procurement and support independent recapitalization in the future.
