DHS Leader Development Program

The DHS Leader Development Program establishes required and optional development for five leader levels across the Department: Team Member, Team Lead, Supervisor, Manager, and Executive. Plus, a wide variety of tools, resources, products and programs to support day to day leadership needs as well as investments in your future leadership potential. Additionally, all DHS Components offer extensive leader development opportunities that meet the LDP requirements, and beyond!

The mission of the Office of Leadership is to communicate and facilitate the Commandant’s Leadership Philosophy and Coast Guard Leadership Competencies by providing Officer, Enlisted, and Civilian personnel with information and resources for professional development opportunities, recognizing exceptional leadership, and establishing policies to sustain leaders of character at all levels.

Led by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Federal Coaching Network, the FICTP offers a unique opportunity for federal employees at the GS-12 or higher to develop the coaching skills that can transform the leadership capacity of the federal government. The program requires significant investment of time and effort by participation. The expectation is that graduates of this program will coach federal leaders upon successful completion, thus investing in the success of leaders and organizations across government.
