About the Course

MOCTC-2 is designed to enable new O-4s and GS-13s to gain a better understanding of how the Coast Guard interacts with external partners, expanding oversight responsibilities and define the Coast Guard of the future. Topics covered within the curriculum include the Constitution and federal government, the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Coast Guard strategy, Coast Guard resource management, and Coast Guard Headquarters functions.

Duration

MOCTC-2 encompasses a blended learning format of 11 weeks of pre-resident online instruction, three weeks of residency, followed by eight weeks of post-resident online instruction. Online coursework requires a 2-4 hour commitment per week and includes reading, participation in online discussion boards and work on a results project. Students who fail to keep up with course assignments may be disenrolled. The online portions of this course requires internet access, CG workstation not required.

Eligibility

The target audience for MOCTC-2 is Active Duty and Reserve O-4s and GS-13s that have recently assumed supervisory roles are encouraged to apply.

Application Procedures

Coordinate with your Training Officer or ESO to submit an Electronic Training Request (ETR) using Direct Access. Reservists must route their request through their command to (DXR/AREA/DOL) via the CGR-TMS process.

* Efforts will be made to accommodate session preference, however, there is historic high demand and limited quotas available for students for this course. Applicants should submit an ETR for the earliest session available and note alternate availabilities to provide the greatest chance to attend a MOCTC session during FY20.
