2018 Leadership, Excellence, and Diversity (LEAD) Council
Flag Voice #482

The Coast Guard’s Leadership, Excellence, and Diversity (LEAD) Council is conducting its next meeting from March 20-23, 2018, at Coast Guard Headquarters. Throughout the last 15 months, the LEAD Council has worked on topics stemming from the October 2016 LEAD Council Report that included Maternity Leave Policy, Human Capital Strategy (HCS) initiatives, sexual harassment prevention, and minority outreach, as well as making connections between Leadership and Diversity Advisory Councils (LDAC), Affinity Groups (such as ANSO, NNOA, WLI), and Leadership Associations.

ALCOAST 032/18 formally announced the meeting and provided submission procedural guidance. Written communications via the LEAD Council’s Best Practices & Issues Submission Form Portal link is strongly encouraged. While we will use this tool as one of the avenues to hear how we can improve our Coast Guard, I ask each of you to encourage volunteer participation in LDACs and/or submission of a best practice or issue through the LEAD Council CG Portal link found at https://cg.portal.uscg.mil/communities/leadership-excellence-diversity-council/SitePages/Home.aspx

All of our members are vital to the Coast Guard mission and an integral part of our family.  The LEAD Council is one way for them to express their thoughts and concerns which will be heard at the highest levels of the Service.  I ask for your continual support to promote LDAC participation and the use of the LEAD Best Practices and Issues Submission Form. With your help, we can maintain a clear line of communication from the deckplate to the Commandant on pertinent issues and best practices that are impacting our workforce. Thank you for your support in this effort.
