Coast Guard Cutter Eagle returned to the water from drydock at the Coast Guard Yard in Curtis Bay, Maryland, Feb. 28, moving one step closer to completion of the final phase of its service life extension project (SLEP) through the In-Service Vessel Sustainment (ISVS) Program.

MH-60T Service Life Extension Program approved to proceed to next phase

The MH-60T Jayhawk service life extension program (SLEP) received approval from the Department of Homeland Security on Feb. 20 to proceed to the next acquisition phase, allowing the program to move forward with analyzing its options for keeping the service’s medium range recovery helicopter fleet operational through the mid-2030s.

Coast Guard awards contract for C-27J radar spares

As part of the Coast Guard’s efforts to equip the service’s C-27J Spartan medium range surveillance aircraft with components that further enhance mission capability, the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract May 7 to Telephonics Corporation of Farmingdale, New York, for up to 19 Multi-Mode Radar systems.

The U.S. Navy, in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard under an integrated program office (IPO), released a request for proposal (RFP) March 2 for the advance procurement and detail design for the Coast Guard’s heavy polar icebreaker (HPIB), with options for detail design and construction (DD&C) for up to three HPIBs.

The Coast Guard delivered another HC-130J Super Hercules long range surveillance aircraft to the L3 Technologies Inc. Integrated Systems Platform Integration Division in Waco, Texas, Feb. 28 to undergo replacement of its legacy mission system with Minotaur.

The Coast Guard placed a delivery order worth approximately $2.31 million with SAFE Boats International LLC of Bremerton, Washington, for six over the horizon IV (OTH IV) cutter boats Feb. 13.

Polar icebreaker acquisition proceeds to next phase

The integrated polar icebreaker program office achieved a milestone Feb. 21 when it received approval from the Department of Homeland Security to advance to the next phase of the acquisition life cycle.
