Coast Guard adopts DoD form for retired pay accounts
CG Form 4700, Coast Guard, PHS & NOAA Retired Pay Account Worksheet and Survivor Benefit Plan Election is being phased out. Coast Guard, PHS and NOAA personnel will join their DoD counterparts and begin using DD Form 2656, Data for Payment of Retired Personnel to establish their retired pay accounts at the Pay & Personnel Center.

Yeoman in the spotlight: Petty Officer 1st Class Sean Stumpf
Congratulations to Petty Officer 1st Class Sean Stumpf winner of the 2020 Coast Guard Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Awards for Excellence, Enlisted Personnel E-6 and below category. Petty Officer Stumpf, a yeoman, at the Pay & Personnel Center, in Topeka, KS, streamlined the Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) process, creating a database and automating the associated Audit Error Worksheets, seamlessly integrating data from Veterans Affairs and Direct Access. These efficiencies improved processing times by 67%, facilitated clearing a year-long backlog, saved more than 10,000 work hours, and made it possible to complete over 4,400 cases totaling over $35.5M.
Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP)-VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) Off-Set Phase Out
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020 changed the way that Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) annuity payments are reduced (off-set) by the receipt of VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC).

Check Out: Coast Guard Retirees Now Can Pay TRICARE Enrollment Fees by Allotment
Group A retirees now pay enrollment fees to maintain their TRICARE Select or TRICARE Overseas Program Select coverage. If you're a U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Public Health Service, or National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) retiree, you can now pay your enrollment fees by allotment. This will allow you to have your enrollment fees deducted automatically from your military retirement pay.

Disenrolled from TRICARE Select? Here's How to Reinstate Your Coverage
As of Jan. 1, 2021, TRICARE Select Group A retirees are required to pay enrollment fees each month. If you didn't set up your enrollment fees for TRICARE Select or TRICARE Overseas Program Select coverage last year, you were disenrolled from your plan effective Dec. 31, 2020. If you want to have TRICARE Select coverage this year, you must request reinstatement with your TRICARE contractor.

The Coast Guard is now able to accept TRICARE Select fees by allotment directly from military retired pay. However, this allotment must be completed by contacting your TRICARE contractor.

RADM Hathaway and MCPO Lloyd Pierce release the CG National Retiree Council’s Annual Report
This open letter to Coast Guard retirees was written by RADM (ret.) Jeff Hathaway & MCPO (ret.) Lloyd Pierce, co-chairs of the Coast Guard National Retiree Council. The CGNRC was chartered in 1982. Its primary mission is to sustain open and positive lines of communication between the Commandant and the entire Coast Guard military retiree community through the Commandant’s executive agent, the Director of Military Personnel (CG-13).
