Moving Away to College May Change Your Child's TRICARE Options

Is your student heading away to college this fall? TRICARE coverage of eligible dependents extends to college students. A change of address, such as moving to a new country, city, region, or ZIP+4 code is a TRICARE Qualifying Life Event (QLE). If this QLE applies to your student, you have 90 days from the date of the address change to change his or her TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select health plan.

Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) and Family SGLI Premium Reductions

ALCOAST 193/19 announces the new reduced monthly premium rates for life insurance coverage under the Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) and Family Service members Group Life Insurance (FSGLI) programs. These premium reductions make these great life insurance programs even better benefits than they currently are. These premium reductions do not require any actions by the members.

Updated Guidance on Screening for Overseas Duty

Overseas Screening is no longer required for assignments within the city of Anchorage, Alaska or within the island of Oahu, Hawaii. A full medical pre-screening is no longer required prior to submission of an e-resume as long as the member and the departing command have confirmed there are no indications of a member being unsuitable for overseas assignment.

Your Child Transitioning to Adulthood with TRICARE Young Adult

Did your child graduate from college, but hasn't yet launched a career? Not to worry, TRICARE may still be available to provide health care coverage. A change in family composition, like when your child becomes an adult, is a TRICARE Qualifying Life Event. After your child turns age 21, they're no longer eligible for regular TRICARE.
